Testimonial: Jenny Van-Strahlen - Silver Wolf Crossfit

My story with Crossfit started over a year ago when I tried another box. That experience was awful. It was not a welcoming experience. I am 42, overweight and wanted to make a life change and heard about how much community there was with Crossfit. I could have dealt with that part. What I couldn’t handle was my first visit being pushed to the point of injuring myself and when I told the coach I was injured he told me I didn’t want it enough. I made it through the class got to my car, ready to vomit and completely disgusted with myself and swore I would never try Crossfit again.

Fast forward several months to a Mission trip I went on to the Dominican Republic and meet Beef (Bryant Coble). He talked to me about how I was living with fibromyalgia and my goals. We talked about trying out personal training and I agreed to give it a try, even though I knew there was no way I could do this.

Today I can say, Personal Training with Beef has been the single best thing I have done for myself in years.  The WOD’s are customized for me each day depending on how my body is functioning.

In the last 4 months I have lost weight, I have more energy, I just feel stronger and I look forward to coming to Silver Wolf. Best of all because of the work I have been doing with Beef’s help, I was able to drop taking the Fibromyalgia medication. All that being said about how it has helped me physically is one thing. But the biggest improvement has been in how I feel about myself. Beef encourages me to try things I would never dream of doing. Seriously, who would picture this 42 year old obese mom of 2 being able to flip a 409 pound tire 30 times? I surely didn’t think I could even do it once. But I did do it.

If you think you are too old, too fat or too sick to do Crossfit you are wrong! We are all stronger than we know and until we try it we will never know the great things we can do. I am so grateful for my coach and friend.
