16 Apr Road to 40 – Blindside
Well I have to say that the last month will go down in history as a month I will never want to repeat. My apologies for not blogging weekly as I planned from the beginning of the year. My Road to 40 has been one with twist and turns. I would make a reference to a good novel but this would be a book you wouldn’t want to pick up. The thing is that everyone on earth has struggles. Hard times are going to come and it how we navigate those situations is what makes us better people.
Given all that has been happening over the past weeks I am glad to stay that my goal to become a badass 40 year old didn’t shift far. We’ve come through a patch that included my father going into cardiac arrest 2 times, to the normal craziness of managing a family of 6, Keeping up with the demands of a small business, dealing with sickness and still trying to stay on track and train. I’m proud to say that I stayed pretty steady. Now I didn’t gain much ground but I didn’t lose as much as I could have. I have recently started back with a one-on-one nutrition coach. I have also shifted my training from focusing more on weightlifting to focusing on more traditional crossfitting.
After the first week of one-on-one with my nutrition coach the scale is moving in the right direction. I can’t imagine that things can get any harder than they have been these past weeks so I am hopeful that the Road to 40 will take off and start to gain some good traction. I also wanted to say thank you to all the people that have been so supportive in the rough times. People that dig in their heels and support when things get rough are the ones that will help you obtain the goals you are after.
My goal for this next week is to stay focused on meal prep. This is critical because when you are hungry, making choices gets much harder. I will also be focusing on managing stress more effectively. Maybe meditation is in my future – stay tuned!
